Frequently asked questions

How does the City & Food Walk (CFW) work?

Download the app (see QR code) and purchase one ticket per person for the CFW of your choice. You will then receive a license key/code via email to activate the app. Each ticket provides one license key. In the app, select the CFW for which you bought the ticket, enter the license key, and start your walk.
Note: the license key consists of uppercase letters (case-sensitive), a hyphen, and numbers. Enter it accurately to access the app.
The walk can be completed during the opening days and hours of the participating shop partners—generally Tuesday to Saturday. Most shops are open from 10:00 to 17:00 on weekdays. Saturday hours may vary, and some shops might close earlier. We recommend starting your walk between 10:00 and 13:00.
In Amsterdam, the partners are also open on Mondays, and four out of five partners are open on Sundays. National holidays, special events, and occasional closures may apply.
Please refer to the quick start and longread guides at the beginning of the selected CFW.

How do I follow the route?

The route follows numerical order. You begin at the starting point, then proceed to stop no. 1, then no. 2, and so on.
Each point of interest comes with information. The app is geo-fenced if your location is enabled. When you’re near a point of interest, the information will appear automatically. You can always go back, skip, or move forward.

What will I encounter along the way?

Each route includes a scenic path, a cultural-historical theme, and fun stories, facts, and photos—sometimes even videos. Each walk includes 4 to 5 food partners, such as bakers, coffee shops, fishmongers, etc., and small eateries like kiosks or takeaways.
You’ll receive a small snack at each food location, included in your ticket price. No payment is required unless you make additional purchases. Each stop also features a special offer, visible in the app.
In Amsterdam, the Jewish Historical Museum participates as a cultural partner. Instead of a snack, you’ll receive a discount on admission. A café upgrade is included in the ticket.

How many tickets do I need?

You need one ticket per person. Showing your ticket/license key entitles you to one snack per person at the participating businesses.

Does every participant need to download the app?

Not necessarily. One person can download the app and guide the group. However, to fully access and enjoy all the information, images, and audio, it’s better if each participant downloads the app.
Regardless, every participant will need their own ticket to enjoy the snacks.

How far in advance should I buy a ticket?

You can buy a ticket up until the day of your walk, as long as it’s within the opening days/hours of the participating partners.
Once purchased, the ticket is valid for two weeks. If not used within that time, refunds are not possible.

Can I cancel a ticket?

No, cancellation or refunds are not possible after purchase.

How many partners are involved?

Each CFW includes five food partners. We guarantee at least four will be open from Tuesday to Saturday. We aim for all five, but due to holidays, special events, or unplanned closures, this may vary.
In Amsterdam, the partners are also open on Monday, and four out of five are open on Sunday.
See the website for each partner’s specific opening times.
If fewer than four partners are open during your walk, you are entitled to a 50% refund after submitting a claim (see contact info).
The participating partners provide food and drink at their own responsibility. CFW cannot be held liable for any damage, inconvenience, or discomfort experienced at their locations.

What about traffic rules?

Participants are responsible for following all applicable traffic laws. Participation is at your own risk. CFW is not liable for any accidents, damages, or disturbances that occur during your walk.

Is the CFW wheelchair-friendly?

Yes, although some historic city centers have uneven surfaces (cobblestones, bricks), all stops are, in principle, accessible by wheelchair.

Who organizes the CFW?

The CFW is a non-profit initiative by Delicio BV from Nunspeet, aiming to contribute to a more hospitable living environment.

What kind of offers can I expect?

Each partner has its own dedicated stop in the app where you can read about the available offer.
